Most competitive Minecraft is Solo (1v1). mcladder has a first-class Duo (2v2) ranked mode: team up with a friend, queue as a duo, and race a second team through the same survival challenges. Here is how team ranked (2v2) works.
How Duo works
Create a party with an invite code and send it to your partner. Once you are both in, queue Duo and matchmaking finds another duo near your team rating.
Both teams get the same three challenges and the same world seed. Your team wins by completing all three first — so splitting tasks and coordinating beats raw individual speed.
Some players call this format 2v2 or 2vs2, the same way solo ranked is often called 1v1 or 1vs1 — on mcladder we simply call them Duo and Solo.
Team rating
Duo estimates the result from both teams' average ELO, then applies each player’s personal delta and K-factor. The public profile combines Solo and Duo W-D-L, total matches, average time and weighted challenge efficiency.

- Coordination opens strategies a solo player cannot run: one gathers while the other crafts or hunts.
- Team ranked is a rare mode in competitive Minecraft — most ladders are Solo only.
